Well, last I heard XFree86 has been ported to Mac OS X
but cannot be run at the same time as Aqua/Quartz. There
is work going on to get X-Win apps running along side
Aqua apps but I don't think anyone has succeeded yet.
You can check out sites like www.macgimp.com (i think
it might be .org) if you're really interested.
I'm almost certain that there are versions of Python
that have been ported to OS X.
I figure given about 6 months the tools will be available
to get most any *nix X-Win app running on OS X without
too much trouble.
