Ahh, that would explain the small number and "poor state" i had heard they
were in. The isolating for protection would make sense as to why they
didn't contact other mountain tribes (where they could have learned to
survive).
Were they from lowlander ancestors? If so, that would explain part of the
reasont hey weren't too good at surviving in the jungle (i doubt most
lowland Filipinos could :)).
