No, no -- I wasn't claiming that you're wrong about that -- I was
only disputing the realism of such a change. People can imagine
any hypothetical reality they want, and I have no problem with it.
I was just pointing out that, judged by the standards and realities
of *this* world, it probably wouldn't happen. This world is a far
cry from the world of Star Trek, I think you'll agree, and so must
be accorded a different status for the sake of discussion.
I mean, afterall, this is a conlanging list. Nobody -- not even
the Esperantists -- conlangs with a realistic shot of making that
popular as an actual instrument of communication. So of course
I think it's okay to indulge in unrealistic activities! :)
