All vowels are short.
When reading passages from "Dune", Frank Herbert always anglicised Bene Gesserit to /'bEni 'dZEz@rIt/, which I find extremely ugly (so who is this Benny Jezzerit anyway?). In my head I always pronounced it /'bEnE gE'sErIt/, disregarding the Latin stress rule... Matt.
