Not *magistrix, please! That would imply a masculine
*magistor.
'magister' and 'magistra' are very good Latin.
An Austrian woman I knew used to complain about the
Austrians' fondness of using titles rather than names.
A schoolteacher, whether male or female, is 'Magister'.
She complained that in her village, although everyone
knew her name (and she wasn't married) she was always
addressed as "Frau Magister" [sic].
