Re: The rest of my post. (Nadsat 2000)

Whoops, forgot to finish my post. Then I sent a header without body
text. Sorry for any confusion.

Shelta and Polari (and perhaps Esperanto, Lojban and even computer
languages!) are part of the basis for a code language I was going to
call Nadsat 2000 (or Nadsat II, Nadsat 2.0, Neo-Nadsat etc.) This was
going to be an extension of Anthony Burgess's Nadsat, the Anglo-Russian
slang used in his book _A Clockwork Orange_ (and the Stanley Kubrick
movie of the same name).

However, it turns out that I have a better use of this language -- the
secret "cant" of the Orcs of Antarctica from my sci-fi/fantasy novel
project, tentatively called _The City of Dreams_. (I just started
writing the text itself today; I've spend years of research on
everything from the Great Flood to Nostratic, which play a role in the
story. The former concerns the world -- or more precisely, East Africa
-- after the Great Catastrophe, an event where the world was destroyed
by fire and floods which billowed forth from the earth many thousands
of years ago. It's the first of many "stories within the story".)

The a priori conlang I was going to assign to the Orcs is now the
language of the Trolls, with a similar phonology but relatively few
morphemes, so a form of "sign language" is necessary for true
communication. (Of course, the Orcs speak this language, since they
employ the Trolls as slaves, and the Trolls are not intellegent enough
to learn English.)

Another of the "stories within the story" concerns a roving
spy/thief/assassin, a human female named Sheila. Those who have seen
her (and lived to tell about it) describe a tall, athletic young woman
with firey red hair, fair skin, wearing a black cloak and armed with a
terrible weapon resembling a halberd. (In other words, imagine a cross
between the Banshee and the Grim Reaper.) She has been heard speaking
English with a "secret slang" element with an English cockney or
Australian accent, and those who have been unfortunate to encounter the
Orcs believe that it is the same language. (Apparently she is sent by
the Orcs not so much to pillage and slay, but to find weaknesses within
the reigning forces of the equally evil Commonwealth which rules all of
the Western Hemisphere in the late 21st century.)

Since Orcs are mutanted humans, and most coming from North America,
there is no native "Orcan language"; most speak their own distinctive
form of English, with borrowings from the Gypsies (who had an encampmen
at the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula before the Orcan invasion, which
of course led to the imprisonment and slaughter of the Romani
inhabitants).

The main topic of the story, by the way, is the conquest of the
Americas, as well as the Caribbean and the Pacific, by the Commonwealth
(ruled by a pseudo-theocratic dictatorship modeled after Calvin's
Geneva, Cromwell's Britain or Salem, Massachusetts), and fears of an
imminent apocalypse,a repeat of the Great Catastrophe of ages past.
And the stories of certain individuals involved in the story.

The main protagonist is a commando officer within the Rangers, an elite
security corps (read secret police), named Alex...
