Hi SallY!
I've noticed that many announcers WILFULLY mispronounce Welsh! It's as
though they're determined to
get it wrong on purpose. They've clearly been told that Welsh looks/sounds
"difficult" and don't want to
let their bosses down. Even though the BBC has a pronunciation department,
TV people still persist in
(a) Getting Welsh wrong
(b) Pronouncing the "ui" of Dutch as English "eye" so that 'Kluivert' comes
out as 'Klyvert'
