Oh, evidently not. Apparently that was the problem, not the
character. I tried a different word with a non-ASCII character,
and it worked fine (in Firefox). My source for "man" was:
http://www.conlang.info/relay13/taruven.html
It gives "du-ath", not "si-ath" (simplified ASCII for the list). So,
my bad.
