That's supposed to be an o-e ligature. Not a stretched, integral "s".
So, the symbols weren't as unscathed as they might appear. I guess I'll have
to go back and try to reduce everything to 7-bit if I'm to maintain platform
independance. I'm gonna go back and redo the vowel orthography anyway.
