Really? I dream in vivid colours, usually brighter than the real
world, like there's always bright sunlight. A few days ago I dreamt
that I was trying to fill a pipe from a yellow plastic container that
turned out to contain grass and weeds (not the Dutch pipe-weed, but
ordinary garden grass) instead of tobacco, and the container was
*yellow* and the leaves were *green*. I remember saying to someone
"if I wanted to smoke green leaves I'd choose a different herb! ;-)
A notable exception is a recurring nightmare I used to have
(fortunately not any more; loved ones were killed in it) that was in
black and white, and very harsh like badly processed photographs,
with all gruesome details highlighted in yellow highlighter.
A straw poll in the house (sample of three little girls): the
five-year-old who occasionally has nightmares doesn't remember, her
twin sister thinks she dreams in colour, and the 6 3/4-year-old
dreams "sometimes in colour, sometimes in black and white". I never
mentioned black and white, just asked if they see colours in their
dreams, so I'm fairly sure that it's accurate.
