Fair enough.  But I would fully expect to run into problems trying to
use British currency symbols and French ligatures when using the
AMERICAN Standard Code for Information Interchange.  :)

Ah, but you could obtain one.  Heck, even if you can only find an all-Gurmukhi
font that reuses ASCII code positions for Gurmukhi letters, there are
free font editor programs that make it easy to copy and paste glyphs.
That's how I made a version of Everson Mono Terminal that includes
pIqaD characters in their ConScript locations. :)
