LOL. I have a bit of the same system in Maggel, with an alphabet of 17 letters
for a language with 90-odd phonemes ;)) .
I've always thought there's a grave

LOL!!! ;)))) Maggel has only a few regular ones, like |ilth| for [K\_j] (but
that one is analysable) and |hoir| for final [x] (and this one is
unanalysable ;)) ). But it has plenty of trigraphs (like |bgi| after a short
vowel to make it into a diphtongue ending in [I], or |gft| for final [N], or
|hfh| for [w], or |jbh| for [C]). And if you don't mind analysable polygraphs
(but you probably didn't mind |ilth| ;)) ), I can easily have a pentagraph like
|zilth| or |izlth|, both pronounced [K\_j*], i.e. tensed (in the Maggelish
sense) palatalised voiced lateral fricative. Now that's a monster! ;)))
Christophe.
