---- PART II Conlang Typlogic Survey 2001 ----
Name of the participating conlang:
Silindion
2: Order of genitive (G), and noun (N)
Both orders are possible, with a slight preference given to NG
How is it shown?
- With a suffix on the G
The underlying form of the suffix is -di
however this changes according to the final sound of the root word.
the suffixes that appear therefore:
-ri, -ti, -li, -ni, -di
3: Order of adjective (A) and noun (N)
both orders are possible, with preference given to NA in speach and prose.
Adjectives in Silindion can be made in 3 main ways. They can be made from nouns with the
addition of the suffixes -tma, -ie, and -ea. They also can be made from verbs
with the addition of the suffix -de (past participle), and the combination
suffix/prefix i-...-na (present participle). The last way is directly from a
root with various suffixes, the major ones being -tu and -ni.
Regardless of being a separate class or not:
Can they take a copula (that is: need/don't need equivalent of "to be")?
Adjectives usually need to be accompanied by the copula, either a suffix on
the preceding word or a seperate particle. In High Silindion, the word ëan
"is" is used (or ëanto/ëantë, if plural). In Low Silindion for the most
part, ë "is" or ëanto "are" are used.... although some dialects prefer the
copular suffix -r.
For example:
Píva i rámar "the bag is red"
piva "red" i "the" rama "bag" -r "is"
