Rokbeigalmki has a mixture of original, semi-original, and plagiarized
punctuation marks. Although generally "now" it is written horizontally,
originally (and for shorter texts) it was/is written semi-vertically,
with each new word written on a new line. The punctuation could be put
on it's own line (if it isn't mid-word punctuation), or on the same line
as the last word before/after it, depending on what it is:
(i haven't given them native names yet)
Sentence-ending marks-
Period: a small circle at the middle of letter-height.
Exclamation: a period with horizontal lines extending out from both
sides.
Question: a period with a line extending from the right side and curving
upwards.
Exclamatory Question: an exclamation mark with the right side curving
upwards like a question mark.
(the upcurving of the question marks comes from the rising intonation of
questions)
Mid-sentence marks-
Comma (small pause): wavy, tilde-like line at the middle of
letter-height.
Dash (long pause): straight horizontal line.
Quotes: like reversed Hebrew quotes, ``quote,, . When alone on a line
written as centered concentric half-circles open to the text of the
quote.
Parentheses: just like ( ) , when alone on a line written as
half-circles.
Mid-word marks-
Slash: vertical line extending above and below the letter height.
Hyphen: short horizontal line.
Apostraphe: just like ' , originally a shorter raised hyphen.
Diacritic marks-
Tilde: tilde above the letter.
Accent: rising accent above the letter.
Circumflex: circumflex ("smitchik") above the letter.
