I personally love minor parties (though I rarely vote for them) . One time
(1976??) I landed in Britain just after a general election and bought a
newspaper that gave the
complete election returns for every constituency, including the odd ones. My
favorite were the Vectis Nationalists (independence for the Isle of Wight)
whose candidate, IIRC
actually polled several thousand votes.  I understand there are fewer such
candidates now because some killjoys raised the deposit required to run for
M.P.(forfeited unless one obtainsa certain % of the vote). There are all sorts of
obstacles to minor parties in the USA, though in fact several usually run in
every election--there is a fascinating
(at least to me) collection of all the party platforms of all parties in all
elections in the past (I read this 20+ years ago--I don't know whether it has
been updated.) As of the time that book was compiled, no esperantist party had
run in the USA.
