Stupid newbie X font question (I'm a command-line Unix guru, but X is
new to me):
I have RedHat 6.0 and I'm running XFree86 with an xfs font server.
I'm trying to run an application that has hard-coded font names,
and it's complaining because those fonts can't be found. Here's what
I get:
Substituting font -*-times-medium-r-normal--48-*-*-*-*-*-*-* for font
-*-times-bold-r-normal--48-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Error: could not load substitute font: -*-times-medium-r-normal--48-*-*-*-*-*-*-*.
Substituting font -*-times-medium-r-normal--9-*-*-*-*-*-*-* for font
-*-palatino-medium-r-normal--9-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
Error: could not load substitute font: -*-times-medium-r-normal--9-*-*-*-*-*-*-*.
I have a font named "times", but neither 9-point nor 48-point.
What do I do to make them exist? Do I need to download fonts
from somewhere, or configure xfs, or what?
Thanks for any help.
