You're welcome. You get this kind of thing a lot in Spanish, where
the real Latin word had mutated into Spanish, and then some
bespectacled intellectual, who thinks that the colloquial term isn't
good enough, will dredge up Latin terms which in time become your
"pompous" words. And they too get worn down after long usage. Like
hondo/fondo, foco/hogar.
