OK, I've decided on having sequences of /V:V:/, /V:V/, and /VV:/ contract to /VV/. The voiced pharyngeal fricative (or stop) /¿/ becomes /y/, so /¿E/ > /ye/> /i:/.Initially, /hV/ doesn't change, but medial /h/ is lost with compensatory lengthening. How about these possible changes: /x/ > /q/ /hh/ > /x/ (where /hh/ is a voiceless pharyngal fricative) - Rob
