Perhaps better as a preliminary step would be to check on the web
archives of the list. You won't risk bothering anyone else, and you
won't have to wait for them to reply.

If you go to the archive of the most recent week and set it to sort by
date, most recent first, you can compare the most recent posts to the
list to the most recent you've received.

Actually, the Yahoo archive is slightly more convenient for this,
since it lists the last 5 posts on the front page. That's the _only_
respect in which the Yahoo archive is more useful than the Brown one*,
though, so if you only bookmark one, make it Brown.

This won't, of course, allow you to distinguish between a held list
and an sudden shortage of posts. If you really want to check, I
suggest you either mail John Cowan or think of something reasonably
on-topic to post.

* Or at all, really.
