Finland has aquatic terminology all around, and lots of it, compared to the usual agricultural / geographical elements. A few common elements include: järvi "lake" koski "rapids" kymi, joki, puro, oja "river / creek (various sizes)" vesi "(body of) water" niemi "cape" lahti / laksi "bay, cove" The generic placename morpheme -la can be added to just about anything. There's also several names more or less transparently inherited from Swedish, Russian and the various Sami languages. A professional might be able to tell more interesting facts, but this is what I can think of, for now... John VerticaL
