do you mean that the verb "do" is as clunky when used as a "pro-verb" as the
demonstrative "that" is clunky when used as a subordinating "pro-noun"? ;-) i
remember an interesting thread regarding this very same topic a while ago: some
learnable list members compared "do", "be" and "have" as proverbs and apparently
the outcome was that "do" had a special status as such IIRC---but i may be wrong
here. btw, my conlang also uses the voice prefixes as proverbs:
"i cut wood while you don't" is:
kami a(hai)kechi tumo wikamu akela hai.
i cut wood as-you not do.
(hai- is an optional voice prefix)

But do is so much more clunkly when you try to work it that way! And it has
another meaning. I mean, a word whose specific function is to emulate the
preceding verb. Kind of the way "si" does in esperanto, if any of you speak
it. Actually, maybe you're right about "do". I don't think I use it that
way... But to do is also an aýiliary verb (helping verb).
