I know that, at least, the Yanomami in S.America, and assorted groups in
Indonesia consider grubs (the nice fat white kind, as seen on TV's Survivor)
a major treat. They are said to satisfy one's craving for either fat or
protein (I forget which, perhaps both) in a diet that is otherwise
protein/fat poor.

guess that eating bugs is nowadays considered kurang moderen, masih
