I have heard sentences exactly like this, and have
used them myself (in speech). Here in Clever, Missouri
the above sentence means (grammatically stripped for
clarity): I definitely need to
eat-at-certain-past-time IF a certain earlier event
did in fact happen. It's sort of a pluperfect
biconditional.
