Oo. You can also see the Kerno ablaut at work, on account of the shift in accent from the monosyllabic root syllable of diMEti to the ending in dimitEmus. This phenomenon seems to be quite restricted in nature, as there are a lot of things that prevent it. For example, infinitives are immune because the accent is variable (MEter / meTER); for much the same reason, past participles are immune; futures in -ur- and pasts in -s- are also immune because they are considered to change the monosyllabic root into a polysyllabic one. Preverbs and enclitics have no effect on this ablaut shift: doandmetínosels (send em on over to us) / doandmithyámuslisels (we'll send em on over to them). And _yes_, there IS a verb in that tangle!: do = to \ All that together a = towards > makes a conjugated nd = em (third pl. object pron/ preverb. mit(h) = verbal root; aspiration due to following vowel ya = subjunctive / hortative stem mus = 1pl ending lis = 3pl. (indirect object) els = 3pl. (direct object) Happily, such occurences are rare!
