Nope, it is a myth. +AD0-) Certain areas in certain states +ACo-almost got the right+ACo- to have official government publications appear there in German as well. (Likely places where German immigrants were high in numbers.) +AD4- reasons. The US almost did have German as the official lingo by like 1 +AD4- or 2 votes of Congress or percents.
