There was a terrible review in today's Times (yes - that Times...) -
illiterate, inaccurate, and generally ill-advised; and that was only in
regard to Tolkien's works, not the film (i.e., snaide comments about pointed
ears, etc). The editor also saw fit to send a 14-year-old to review it. Why?
Would they send a 14-year-old to review The Tempest or A Midsummer Night's
Dream? On the other hand, the UK Children's current affairs programme
NewsRound carried an interview with the director who emphasised the
seriousness and maturity of Tolkien's work. Hantar Iluvataren!
