Theoretically, yes. But I imagine it probably involves a totally different
mental process. Most people write music that *sounds* good, and turns out to
be mathematically "correct" -- not the other way around. Maybe some of the
old composers might have done it the other way around. And unlike math, what
is numerically incorrect can often still work out. Using dissonant
intervals, for example. How about Tool? They regularly break the
"mathematical" rules for time signatures.

I should probably do a "vocabulary" thing involving musical terms. I know
that's still a big gap in Rhean.
