Indeed, but I don't see them integrated into Indonesian society without
everybody from Oman to Canton knowing it. There were several advanced
states in the area and the island, albeit backward, was mentioned in
javanese and chinese texts. If hobbits lived in the villages alongside
with men we would know.
I can accept hobbits surviving in the deep jungle - even in Java - not
hobbits walking down the streets of Djakarta.
