I'm not an Austronesianist, but I am a fan of pidgins and creoles. I believe it's an interesting bit of conjecture with several glosses and not many facts, as is common of many things now found on the Internet: I'm torn between the pleasure of being able to encounter things like this thanks to the internet, yet concerned how this may be taken as fact by an uncritical public. I also believe that it's an interesting thread for another historized fantasy novel like Jane Yolen's _The Pictish Child_.
