All is revealed in the Ancient Book of Charmap (and similar
programs). If you use Windows, then run "charmap": it allows you to
preview fonts and tells you the Alt codes for characters.
Euro symbol happens to be alt 0128, but is only available for some
fonts.

é is Alt 0233
ß is Alt 0223
ö is Alt 0246
å is Alt 0229
etc.
(there's a Euro sign lurking in there somewhere, I think I found it
once,
but don't remember).
