Hmm. It may be instructive to look at existing examples, especially if you can find borrowings into a language with a phonology approximating that of your conlang. I wish I could be more help; in Korean, frex, radio -> rajio, TV -> terebi (but Korean does have a liquid). As a stopgap you could look at the IPA chart and pick something that at least has some featural similarities to the "missing" sound.
