Are you sure you don't mean Doulos SIL, which is a Times lookalike?
FWIW MS Word has a 'feature' so that if you first change the whole doc
to one font (scil. Doulos SIL) and then to another (scil. Times NR)
then all characters which are missing in the second font will remain
as the first.
