Difficult to get water burning :)
But I saw the "Wall of fire" on my TV. I forget which bridges on the
Thames it sped from & to - but they thought they'be clever & make the thing
travel at the same speed as the earth's rotation. The result was that it
was all over in 1 point something seconds past midnight! If you blinked or
were under an alcoholic haze, you'd have missed it.
The other fireworks looked pretty good, however; and those from barges on
the Thames seemed quite spectacular - but I agree, the Eiffel Tower display
was probably not bettered anywhere.
A prosperous & bug-free Y2K!
Ray.
