I haven't followed the discussion closely, but here's my take on it:
If you create something because of a burning desire to bring that
thing into the world, it's art.
If you create something because of a burning desire to master the
skill to do so, it's craft.
If you create something because of a burning desire not to be bored of
a Wednesday night, it's a hobby.
I suspect that conlangs are created for all three of these reasons.
