I can understand what you felt. That used to happen to me too sometimes with=20
my early conlang vocabulary : I would "feel" and coin a new word, then find=20
its "foreign" twin in a book or a lesson. For instance I randomly hit :
teik : wall // teichos (Greek)
isk=FC : strong // ischuros (Greek)
nepi : small child // nepios(-n?) (Homerian Greek)
tepi : hill, moutain // tepe (Turkish), tepetl (Nahuatl)
and some others (mainly Greek) I can't remember anymore.

Ruhlen says that the probability that two words of two different languages=20
sharing both similar phonostuff and semebedoo are not relative cognates is=20
almost zero. From my experience I find it hard to believe :-) (note this is=20
no Ruhlen & Greenberg's bashing : I'm obviously not equipped for that).
