Hi,
I spoke to my bank and asked them to outline all the possible options
regarding payment.
1) I can accept cheques in dollars (or pesos, zlotys, rupees, etc). However,
there is a GBP 5 admin fee per cheque, which translates as a 50% price
increase for a single T shirt. I dont mind receiving larger cheques, but I
expect most of you do mind paying the extra cost.
2) Direct bank transfers are possible. There may be a fee at your end
depending on your bank, but my bank does not charge for this. However, I
don't want to take this route as the only evidence I will have of payment is
a string of numbers on my monthly statement, which makes working out who
paid what very difficult.
3) Apparently, by going into your bank, possibly at the foreign exchange
desk, you can get a <foreign draft> or <foreign cheque> drawn against your
bank account. There is no cost to me to handle this kind of payment, but
there might be at your end. This is my preferred payment plan.
4) Send your money to someone in your own country, who then sends a single
payment to me, so that bank charges will be shared. can I just handle this
as a single person ordering several T-shirts, but with multiple mailing
addresses?
Any questions?
Summary: cheque in sterling at 'advertised' prices, or cheque in
non-sterling currency at a GBP 5 admin fee.
