AFAIK, in _Die Unendliche Geschichte_ (_The Neverending Story_ (or so))
by Michael Ende, Bastian (or was it Atréju?) one day comes to a house in
the shape of an onion which is inhabited by an old lady, Aieoula (or
similar). That's what the name remembered *me* of. I think I should read
that book another time ... It's been a while since I read it.
