I once developed the following system, which I never actually implemented
in a conlang. You're welcome to steal it:
Long vowels:
aa [a:]
ai [e:]
ii [i:]
au [o:]
uu [u:]
Reduced vowels:
a [a], [@]
i [I]
u [U]
