That's more or less what I suspected -- that it isn't
especially great Latin, but you're saying that *is*
acceptable.  Actually, I had forgotten about _is_
being used as a pronoun.  I suspect the choice was
made for matters of rythm.  It sentence quoted is the
last line of a translation of "I've Been Working on
the Railroad."  It doesn't match the last line as I
learned it, but liberties are taken with such things.
