It was a series of short stories.   The book AofB contains all but two in
the first edition, and all but one in the second.  The remaining story
is contained in his althistory collection (title escapes my mind); it is
not about Basil Argyros, but is a short account of Mouamet's exile from
Syria and the writing of the famous hymn.
