Well, I at least am not fluent enough in anything except Dutch and possibly English to bring up children in it, and we vaguely discussed bringing our kids up bilingual (Dutch and English) before they were born, but it proved to be too much of an effort in a practically monolingual environment and it never happened. We *do* talk to the kids in any and all languages floating around in the house, including but not limited to conlangs. They usually ask "what language is that?" before they ask "what does it mean?"

Ah, that's why our twins never did that (until all three of the kids started conlanging a few months ago); they've hardly been in a language-sparse situation :-) Irina Varsinen an laynynay, saraz no arlet rastynay. irina@rempt.xs4all.nl (myself) - http://valdyas.conlang.org (Valdyas) http://www.xs4all.nl/~bsarempt/irina/index.html (home)
