Depends.  You can either adapt the sounds of the name to your language,
which is what English generally does.  Or, you could find out what the
meaning of the name is and translate that.  For example, my name
(Nicholas) means "Victory of the People" (I think), so in my conlang I
would make that _nIanisvasi_ (n- = gender 2 [male sentient] prefix;
ianis = people vasi = victory), and would go by either nIanis or
naVasi.  On the other hand, I could also just make it _naNiklas_, Niklas
approximating the pronunciation of Nicholas, or I suppose I could make
it just nIklas, taking advantage of the co-incidental initial n-,
reinterpreting it as the gender prefix.  :-)
