Many Americans, chiefly Westerners (it's a stereotype) but including even
thoroughly Eastern me, distinguish sharply between the adverb "just",
pronouncing it [dZ1st], and the adjective "just", pronounced [dZVst].
(This is only just, as they have different though related Latin origins:
the adverb from IUXTA, the adjective from IUSTUM, probably via French.)
