I agree 100%, and not only because I happen to be married to the guy.
A club, for me, is a structure to do things with people, and if I'm
doing those things with those people already I don't really want the
structure. When I was younger, I used to enjoy the organizational and
"ritual" things of a club - the game aspects, in fact - immensely, but
now it would just be a chore.
And yes, I'll gladly cook for a crowd somewhere in the middle of May :-)
(garden party, anyone? our sorry excuse for a lawn might be up to
scratch then)
