This seems to be the SirCam virus. See <URL:http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.sircam.worm@...>. Even if it doesn't delete all your files or fill up your disk, it will run its own code whenever any program is started, and keep trying to send mail all the time; this will slow your PC and your network connection. And it's a right hassle to get it cleaned off your computer, as detailed in the advisory in the link above. So be careful out there.

Those are always good precautions. You should of course check that your virus definitions are fully updated --- Norton added this one on July 17. In this case, if you didn't open the attachments, you should be safe. If anyone did run them, they will have the virus, and should remove it as soon as they can.
