Re: Kinship terminology

Interesting topic.

I know the Satra would have words for:

Fellow Stiq members (same clutch born at the same basic time).
Fellow clutch members who are not of the same Stiq.
A Stiq is a term for siblings, most often since the Satra have a single
place for all clan eggs to be laid, then as each egg hatches, they are
grouped into Stiqs of 6 members each. Why six? Cause Satra have 6
fingers on a hand, a Stiq is a hand basically.
Of course the next relationship is singular for a special teacher or
like, since all Satra take care of the children, there is no "parental
bond" other than one of community. I expect next would be a term for
elders, and some modifier for how older they are, as well as position of
respect. A clan leader is a Plaq, so it does not have to be elder, but
most times it is. A Plaq is appointed by the Clan members, those who
have reached maturity (tested, not cause of age).
Also word for those who are younger.
Also a term for those who are Satra, but not of their Clan, and then for
those who are not of the Satra. Not always clear, since it is possible
for a Stiq members cause of how the Satra mate, to have a non-satra Stiq
member, atleast not externally. Some 5-10% of Satra who mate, will
produce a child that looks like another race, often due to the means by
the Satra mate. For they collect genetic material by what seems to be
matting, but is actually gene collecting via what appears to be male and
female genetalia, which actually is ways to collect genetic material for
natural recombination. Other term possible is for those who have gone to
seed, a Satra when it wishes to will plant itself and become like a
tree.
