OT TECH: Hallelujah,"System Restore"!

FWIW, and in case other computer-illiterates are suffering-- in a magazine
at the Dr's office the other day I happened on a mention of "System Restore"
(for Windows users).
Start > All programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Choose
"Restore my computer to an earlier time" [poetic phrase, isn't it?]-- that
brings up a calendar which can be clicked back (tho apparently only 3
months). Since in my case the barrage of pop-ups and other crap started in
earnest around Nov. 30, I picked the earliest possible date in Nov. and
voilà! My Yahoo home-page is restored, and no pop-ups in 2 days (well, it's
a start...I keep fingers crossed).
You do lose any programs downloaded since the date chosen, but it doesn't
affect files, email, favorites etc.
I trust there are no serious problems associated with the
procedure..........
