I think it would be better to let modifiers precede the modified, thus [.s .z] etc. This makes it a lot easier for automatic parsing. BTW your system is hardly a revision of X-SAMPA, but rather an independent system. I suggest calling it "Trebor Jung Phonetic Alphabet" -- JPA. Unfortuinately TIPA is already taken by "TeX IPA". The idea of a ASCII phonetic notation that takes into account the needs of the sight-impaired is IMHO worth encouraging, but why don't you use e.g. _m_ and _n_ with their traditional values? /BP 8^) -- B.Philip Jonsson mailto:melrochX@melroch.se (delete X) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Truth, Sir, is a cow which will give [skeptics] no more milk, and so they are gone to milk the bull." -- Sam.
