Here in the Netherlands marriage is open to anyone, so marriage terms are used quite normally by gay couples too, since they do fit :)) . "Partner" is the most common term for married couples and long relationships, whether they are straight or gay couples. I usually call my own partner my boyfriend, partner or fiance (we are not married yet but he already proposed and I said yes, so the term does fit :)) ). When we get married, I will probably use only the term "partner", although I like the term "echtenoot" ("husband", in quite an old-fashioned way. The normal term for "husband" nowadays being simply "man" :) ). I could also call my partner "soul-mate", since he is indeed the half I didn't know I missed, but I actually never used it.
