In the Spanish I learned, which is influenced by Mexican Spanish, we
use "Sacar fotos". Sacar has the meaning of "to draw", "to take out",
"to remove":

Puedo sacar un foto? - May I take a picture?

Saco el libro de la caja ahorita. - I'm taking the book out of the box
right now.

Él saca la espada. - He draws the sword.

I also learned that tomar can mean "to take a drink", but the way I
always hear it, it's not used that much for that purpose, but beber
is. I guess it depends on the speakers around you.
